Description

In this field, you should include details such as:

  • who is in the event
  • what the event is about
  • where it wil be held
  • when it will be held.

You should be put all this information in the one sentence.

For example:

Computer Science staff will star in the play Romeo and Juliet at the Octagon Theatre, UWA, this Friday, September 23.

After the first sentence, add two to three more sentences with details such as:

  • who the event is for
  • the time the event starts and finishes
  • costs, such as ticket prices
  • other interesting highlights.

Other things to consider:

  • keep the description to a maximum of five sentences
  • start each sentence on a new line
  • use active voice to help make it punchy
  • avoid flowery language
  • avoid using html (it does not work).

Your description must stand alone. That is, give the reader the full picture of the event.

In some calendars, the only fields that are displayed are the title, summary and description fields.
